Maxie Pauline Whitaker

June 25, 1934 — March 5, 2005

With her family at her bedside, Maxie Pauline Weatherly Whitaker, 331 Old J.A. Hodge Road, Piney Flats, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Scott County, Virginia to Thurman and Monia Wilson Weatherly, on June 25, 1934, and had lived most of her life in Sullivan County, TN. She was a member of Boones Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and recently, by a son, Michael, on February 16. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Isaac J. Whitaker; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and April Whitaker of Elizabethton; one special grandson, Timothy Whitaker, Bristol; a granddaughter, Ashley Young, Elizabethton; one brother and sister-in-law, Reverend Charles and Barbara Weatherly, Greeneville; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Earl Kaylor, Fannie Rupe of Piney Flats, Velma Milhorn, Bristol, Ann Hodge, Johnson City, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Janice Rhodes. Pallbearers selected are Graham Hodges, Troy Rhodes, Steven King, Chance Hale, Jonathan King and Timothy Whitaker. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Family and friends will gather at New Bethel Cemetery in Piney Flats for graveside services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2005.
