Melissa Dare Buchanan

Melissa Dare Buchanan , 52, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Melissa was a lifelong resident of Johnson City and a graduate of Science Hill High School and Lees-McRae College. She was the daughter of Linda L Buchanan and the late Earl ?Bucky' Buchanan. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. In addition to her mother, survivors include her sister Laura Johnston and her husband Joe of Knoxville, brother Scott Buchanan and his wife Tamara of Johnson City and four nieces and nephews: Adam Johnston, Garrison Buchanan, Emerson Buchanan and Amelia Buchanan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center ICU for their very special care. Receiving of friends will be held from 3 to 5 PM Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Monday in the Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM Monday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Washington County or the charity of your choice.
