Melvin Brown Peregoy

August 11, 1949 — February 8, 2011

Melvin Brown Peregoy, age 61, of Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the James H. Quillen VAMC. Mr. Peregoy was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a son of the late Brown Low Peregoy, Sr. and Seatta Lefco Peregoy. He was a truck driver and was a member of Fountain of Life Bible Church. Mr. Peregoy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by one brother, Brown Low Peregoy, Jr., and one grandson, David Keith Day, Jr. He is survived by his former wife, Linda Arnett the mother of his two daughters, Tammy Lynn Byrd and Tabatha Peregoy Scott and their brother, Travis Arnette, all of Johnson City, TN; six grandchildren, Michael and Casey Byrd, Cory Paul, Chelsey and Tiffany Scott, and Sierra Gregory; five sisters, Pat Ramsey, and Norma Bennett, both of Johnson City, Mary Garrison and Billie Reaser, both of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Bernie Jones, of Gray, TN; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with Dr. Vic Young officiating. Graveside service will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard. Pallbearers will be Cory Paul, Casey Byrd, Michael Byrd, Dennis Coffie, Shawn Ramsey, and Scotty Ramsey. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday at 12:40pm. Arrangements are by Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Ave., Johnson City. 423-282-1521.
