Michael Carter Overton

Michael Carter Overton, 35, Johnson City, passed away at home, on June 11, 2022. He was born in Riverdale, GA on August 22, 1986, to Randy and Mary Ellen Overton. He graduated form Libertyville High School in Chicago, IL in 2005 and attended East Tennessee State University form 2006 to 2009. After college, he stayed in Johnson City, working in distribution as a sales execution coordinator for Holston Distributing.

Michael made the most out of life and found joy in his many hobbies. A talented musician, Michael played many instruments including the guitar and saxophone. He was also very active in outdoor sports and enjoyed snowboarding, riding motorcycles, and BMX biking.

Michael was best known for his exceptionally quick wit. He had an infectious sense of humor, always able to find laughter in the simplest things. Michael’s empathy and kindness afforded him many strong and meaningful friendships. He truly cherished those around him. To know the love and care he gave to others was to know Michael.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Overton.

He is survived by: his father, Randy; his stepmother, Rosemary; his sisters, Rebecca Smith (Matt) and Katie Overton; and his niece and nephew, Adrienne and Conner Smith.

The family of Michael Overton will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Mike Richards officiating.
