Michael James Farnett, Sr.

Michael J. Farnett, 87, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Syracuse, NY and a son of the late, Acey and Grace Martino Farnett. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marie.Mr. Farnett was of the Catholic faith but attended First United Methodist Church in Johnson City. He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served in World War II. He had worked as the Laundry Plant Manager at the VA in Syracuse, NY. He was a volunteer with the Red Cross at Mountain Home for 15 years.Survivors include; his wife Dorothy of the home; Five children, Sandra Edmons of Candler, NC, Karen York of Galway, NY, Linda Jones of Lexington, KY, Michael Farnett, Jr. of Elizabethton and Lori Lipton of W. Bloomfield, MI; four Step Children, Six Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday. February 3, 2011 from Mountain Home National Cemetery. Rev. Garland Thayer will officiate. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
