Michael Lynn Whaley, 62, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Michael was a native of Johnson City. He was a son of the late David Whaley and Virginia Ruth Fields. Michael had served in the US Army. He worked in construction and maintenance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Ronnie, and Wayne. Survivors include: three daughters, Amanda Phillips and her husband Terry Phillips II, Brandi Garrett, and Brittni Whaley and her husband James Seymore; two sons, James Sells and Bryan Showe and his wife Heidi; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; his children?s mother, Alyce Whaley; two sisters, Linda Perkinson and her husband Raymond and Patsy ?Susie' Vacek and her husband Rob, of Lolo, MT; one brother, Gary Whaley; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sandra Tester. The family of Michael Whaley will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Following the visitation, family and friends will proceed to Mountain Home National Cemetery for a 2:30 pm graveside service. Rev. Lenny Smith will officiate. Active pallbearers are: Gus Cousins, Kenneth Bledsoe, Reggie Garner, Bryan Showe, James Perkinson, and Mark Perkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and nephews.
