Mickey Walker

January 10, 1945 — November 18, 2018

Mickey Kenneth Walker, 73, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, November 18th, 2018, at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. Mickey was a native of Piney Flats and lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Hazel Walker, Piney Flats. In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by: his son, Mickey Kenneth Walker II; one brother, Jim Walker; two sisters, Dorothy Pealer and Betty Walker; a niece, Joy Fox; and his trusty K-9 companion, Jack. Mickey owned and operated Walkers Garage for over 40 years. He was a transmission specialist back in his day. He will be remembered by all who met him for he was truly a unique individual. Mickey lived an eventful life and had a knack for telling stories of the 'good ole days'. Mickey loved to laugh and found the humor in absolutely everything. Mickey had a boisterous, hearty, infectious laugh that his family and friends were fortunate enough to hear it for many years though not nearly long enough. Mickey was well known in the community and could often be seen riding around with Jack in his favorite truck 'Old Blue'. Mickey loved country settings and often went for rides ?down on the river' and to ?the holler' where he was born just to see what was going on. Mickey loved his family and got a big kick out of watching his 'grandbabies' play. They meant the world to him. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of fifty-six years, Peggy Walker; one daughter, Tracy Shuffler and husband Neal Barr; grandchildren, Patricia Phillips and husband Justin, Mickey Walker III and wife Alexandra, Monika Warren and husband Dustin, and Rebecca Shuffler; great-grandchildren, Devin Shuffler, Bella Shuffler, Logan Phillips, Kaden Walker, and Zoey Warren; one brother Beryl Walker and wife Janice; and two sisters, Peggy Rusk and husband Dave, Sonja Fox and husband John; Special Brother and Sister in law Charlie and Lois Whitehead; special niece Diane Bishop; and wonderful friends too numerous to mention. You know who you are. The family of Mickey Walker will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Following the visitation, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for a 2:30 pm graveside service.
