Mildred Mull Nelson, 99, 2012 Sherwood Drive, Johnson City, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 in the Appalachian Christian Village. Mildred was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 21, 1907. She went to school in Cedar Rapids and 2 years at Frances Shimer College in Illinois. Mildred married Howard Nelson and they moved to Omaha, Nebraska and several others small towns in Iowa. In 1940 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri for Howard?s work with Rath Packing Co. They again moved to Johnson City in 1952. Mildred did many Volunteer jobs at the Veteran?s Administration as a Grey Lady, the Welcome Wagon, Eastern Star # 194 as Worthy Matron, and her work at First Christian Church. Everywhere she moved, she was a help to all. She loved to work in her flowers, study the Bible, play bridge, read and she was a very good cook. Mildred is preceded in death by her Husband of 42 years, J. Howard Nelson, parents Leo B. and May Wyatt Mull and brother George Wyatt Mull. Mildred?s mother died when she was eight and was wonderfully raised by her step-mother, Laura Reaugh Mull. She is survived by a daughter Beverly and husband Gary McGinnis, Kingsport, grandsons Jeffery and wife Lesley McGinnis , Dallas, Tx., Michael and wife Julie McGinnis, Seymore, Tn, Great granddaughters Danielle McGinnis, Santa Monica, CA, Sydney McGinnis, Powell, Tn. The funeral service for Mildred Mull Nelson will be conducted at 4:15 PM Monday, March 5, 2007 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Phil Scott will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 2-4 PM Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Johnson City, 200 East Mountcastle Drive, Johnson City Tn. 37601 or Appalachian Christian Village, 2012 Sherwood Drive, Johnson City, Tn. 37601
