Milton Evans Rogers, Jr. June 20, 1924 - April 19, 2012 Milton Evans Rogers, most recently of Wake Forest, NC, and formerly of Johnson City, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2012. He died quietly at home at age 87. Mr. Rogers was a native of Corpus Christi, TX, and lived for thirty years during his adulthood in Harlingen, TX, before moving to Johnson City in 1980. He was the son of Milton Evans Rogers, Sr., and Ora Izora (Williams) Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a World War II veteran and worked in three careers during most of his adult life. In South Texas, he was an electrician and lineman for Central Power and Light. Then, after retiring from that company, he worked in Johnson City for Thyssen Krupp Budd and then as maintenance engineer for Silver Creek Apartments. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Joyce (Rogers) Congdon, and his wife of almost 60 years, Billie (Mitchell) Rogers, who passed away in 2009. Survivors include: two daughters, Susan (Rogers) McMichael, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Robin (Rogers) Georgioff, Vancouver, WA; five grandchildren, Laura (McMichael) Bonham and Diana (McMichael) Aaron, both of Raleigh, NC, Morgan Georgioff, Samuel Georgioff and Mitchell Georgioff all of Vancouver, WA; five great grandchildren, Mckenna Bonham, Connor Bonham, Jessalyn Bonham, Joshua Aaron, and Georgia Aaron all of Raleigh, NC. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Wendell, North Carolina. A memorial service for Mr. Rogers will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, at Bethany Baptist Church in Wendell. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Mountain Home Veterans Cemetery, in Johnson City, TN, where his remains will be interred next to his beloved wifes. Mr. Rogers often quoted his favorite Bible verse, Romans 1:16a, which states, 'For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes.'? His highest priority during his adulthood was sharing his faith with everyone with whom he spoke. He was a loving, giving man and will be remembered for his sweet spirit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Rogers to Bethany Baptist Church, 3417 Rolesville Rd., Wendell, NC, 27591.
