Minnie B. Blankenship, 88, 115 Woodlawn Drive, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Blankenship was a Johnson County native and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Floyd Conley Hicks and Sadie Luster White Hicks and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Glen Blankenship, four brothers and one sister. Mrs. Blankenship was retired from Empire Furniture. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Elk Park, NC. Mrs. Blankenship was survived by one son, Tommy W. Blankenship, Johnson City; one brother, Eugene Hicks, Jonesborough; two sisters, Edith Shelton and Shirley Tyree both of Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Mrs. Blankenship will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Reverend Dan Foster will officiate. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 PM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
