Myrtle Bledsoe Hammonds, 82, of Henderson, TN, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Pine Meadows Health Care Center, in Bolivar, TN. She was a native of Scott County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Freeman R. and Nannie Bloomer Bledsoe. Myrtle had lived in Florida for many years, returning to the Tri Cities for several years and then moving to Henderson to be near her daughter. She worked for Eastman Kodak from 1947 to 1956 then worked for J. C. Penney where she retired following 17 years of service. Myrtle was a member of the Watauga Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents,six brothers; Rufus Bledsoe, Parkie Bledsoe, Hollie Bledsoe, Hillard Bledsoe, Carley Bledsoe,and Cecil Bledsoe; two sisters, Lois Bledsoe and Lucy Roberts, preceded her in death. Survivors include: her husband of 58 years, Jerry Milbern Hammonds of Henderson, TN; a daughter, Karen Jerrolds (Mike) of Henderson; a son, Timothy L. Hammonds ( Margie) of Cocoa, Florida; four grandchildren, Jeremy L. Hammonds, Matthew Jerry Snelling, Brittany Nicole Hammonds and Meagan Renee Hardison (Casey); two great grandchildren,Garrett and Camryn Hardison. A Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in Morris '? Baker Funeral Home South Chapel, under the direction of Rev. Bill Greer. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Morris '? Baker Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
