Myrtle L. Mcqueen

June 20, 1928 — September 24, 2010

Myrtle Leonard McQueen, 82, of Jonesborough, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at the John M. Reed Nursing Home, Limestone, TN. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Will C. and Nona Tiner Leonard. Myrtle had been owner of Tri City Decorating for many years. She was a member of Eden United Methodist Church, the Eden Methodist Women and the Washington County Scottish Rite Ladies Auxilliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James 'Flop'? Leonard, John Leonard, Melvin 'Red'? Leonard and Wayne Leonard; two sisters, Kathleen Bogus and Margaret Crumley. Survivors include: her husband of over 60 years Joseph 'Joe'? G. McQueen of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph 'Joey'? M. McQueen and Sharon of Jonesborough; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa 'Toni'? Percell and Jack of Jonesborough; a sister, Marie Royston of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Tammy (Craig) Ponder, Troy (Tracie) Percell, Christy (Mark) Saladino and James (Jessica) McQueen; nine great grandchildren, Rachel Ponder, Taylor Percell, Jonathan Ponder, Matthew McQueen, Michael Percell, Morgan Anderson, Emma Saladino, Melvin McQueen and Evan Saladino; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service is scheduled for Monday, September 27, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Tim McCobin, Rev. Will Lauderback and Rev. Craig Ponder. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Joey McQueen, Troy Percell, James McQueen, Mark Saladino, Craig Ponder and Jonathan Ponder. Honorary pallbearers will be: Michael Percell and Matthew McQueen. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to leave in procession to the cemetery. The family wishes to make special thanks to: Drs. Rush and Jones; the staff at both Lakebridge Health Care Center and John M. Reed Nursing Home and Edith Grindstaff. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: Eden United Methodist Church-Building Fund, 1620 Mill Springs Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
