Myrtle L. Meade

Mrs. Myrtle Linville Meade of Johnson City, TN passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at her residence. Preceded in death by her parents, Reverend John and Lucy Linville. Also preceded in death by brothers Charles, Harmon and J. R. Linville, sisters, Edith Gaddy, Rosa Jones and Mary Jones. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Roy H. Meade, two daughters, Sandy Garber and her husband, Joel of Knoxville, TN and Judith Meade of Johnson City; grandchildren, Karen Garber Kochhar and her husband, Sunir of Northridge, CA; Scott Garber of Broomfield, CO; great grandchildren, Kiran Kochhar of Knoxville and Neil Garber Kochhar of Northridge, CA and a special nephew, Don Linville of Mars Hill, NC. Myrtle was a lifetime member of Tacoma Church of God, member of Johnson City Civitan Club, member of West Hills Garden Club, Chairman of Appalachian Girl Scout Council, PTA president and a member of the American Business Womens Association. Myrtle was a girl scout troop leader for 15 years and then became Executive Director of Johnson City Girls Club, also for 15 years. Her desire to help young girls become young adults is reflected in the many years she served them. Mrs. Meade had a passion for reading and traveling. She and her husband traveled to many countries. Her enjoyment was taking her children and grandchildren on several foreign trips. The family of Myrtle Meade will receive friends Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 12 noon until a service time of 2:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Bill Konstantopoulus will officiate. Committal will follow and Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joel Garber, J.C. Meade, Sunir Kochhar, Don Linville, Neil Kochhar, Jim Starr, Scott Garber and Kiran Kochhar.
