Myrtle Laws Freeman

December 27, 1919 — November 26, 2007

Myrtle Laws Freeman, age 87, passed away suddenly, Monday, November 26, 2007. She resided in Jonesborough and was a member of Liberty Church in Gray. She served as a Red Cross Volunteer and was a member of the John M. Reed Home Auxiliary for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband James J. Freeman, Sr., a son James Joe Freeman, Jr., parents James David and Sarah Owens Laws, brother Wheeler Laws, sisters Georgia Stout and Ruby Laws. Survivors include one son Edward 'Butch'? Freeman and wife Kerry, Jonesborough, daughter Mary Sue Hale and husband Ronnie, Kingsport, three granddaughters Katie Greene and husband Clark, Knoxville, Kathie Lewis and husband Billy Joe, Emily Elbe and husband Justin all of Jonesborough, two grandsons Joseph Freeman, Jonesborough and Chris Hale, Kingsport, four great granddaughters Kelsey Greene, Kalen Lewis, Kara Lewis and Hannah Elbe, three great-grandsons Andrew Greene, Noah Freeman and Parker Elbe. Mrs. Freeman is also survived by a sister Norma McKinney and husband Charles, sister-in-law Maxine Laws all of Johnson City, four brothers Lonnie Laws and wife Virginia, James Laws, Glen Laws and wife Violet all of Johnson City and Eddie Laws, Jonesborough, sisters-in-law Nina Pickering and Dale Freeman, Johnson City and brother-in-law Paul Freeman, Gray. A funeral service for Mrs. Freeman will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Gary Gentry will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 PM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Freeman, Chris Hale, Andrew Greene, Justin Elbe, Clark Greene and Billy Joe Lewis. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and anytime at the home of Mrs. Freeman. Those who wish may send contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
