Nancy Ann Roberts Goode, 73, of Johnson City, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Wise County, Virginia, July 26, 2935, a daughter of the late Earlia Mae Orender Clark Roberts and John Archie Roberts of Norton, Virginia. She moved to Johnson City in 1963, where she was a life long nurse (C. N. A.) and caregiver with area nursing homes, Memorial Hospital and Range Hall Nursing Home form 1964 to 1980s, retiring with Asbury Center Retirement and Assisted Living Center. She had many dear patients and families she helped care for over the years and had many friends and co-workers who meant a lot to her.Nancy was a kind, compassionate and caring person in everything she did, was a great wife, mother, nurse and friend to all she met and cared for. She was co-owner and operator of Old South Floral on Unaka Avenue, for 12 years. She was an officer and member of: --Ladies Auxiliary of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 2226, Johnson City --Appalachian Florists Association, N. E. Chapter of TN Florists Association, with many friends and fun memories of their times together. --Wednesday Morning Coffee League, her local bowling team, with many dear friends and a lifetime of good memories with all the ladies over the years.She enjoyed her family and friends and time they spent on crafts, sewing, quilting, making apple butter, floral arranging, reading, working puzzles, trips to the beach and her lake house.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a half sister Jeanette Clark, in childhood; a half brother, Charles Clark of Guest River, Wise County, VA; and a brother, John Henry Roberts of Killeen, Texas.Survivors include: her husband, James R. (Buddy) Goode of the home; her only daughter, Rebecca Goode Jones and her husband Bob Jones of Boones Creek and step-granddaughter, Heather N. Jones of Kingsport; three sisters Barbara Ellen (Mary Rose) Stidham and husband Garland and family of Clearwater, Florida; Billie Clark Leho and family of Norton, VA; Thelma Roberts McLemore and husband John and family of Austin, Texas; one brother, James O. Clark and wife Daisy and family of Nashville; two sisters-in-law, Josie Roberts and family of Killeen, TX and Ruby Clark and family of Abingdon, VA; a special nephew and family, Jim and Phyllis Clark of Kingsport and many more special nieces and nephews and their families spread out around the country.im and Becky wish to extend a special Thank You to all their family members and dear friends, who have helped with food, care taking and therapy as well as just being there these past difficult months.Thank you to all her Physicians and their staffs, especially to Dr. James Blom, Radiation Oncologist and his wonderful staff of nurses and technicians for their continued kindness and compassionate care. Truly it is Gods calling for them to continue their difficult, but special care to patients day after day. Johnson City Medical Center is blessed to have this departments outstanding physicians and their knowledge with their excellent staff and the specially trained staff of 5200 wing available to our local residents.A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, October 10, 2008 at Morris '' Baker South Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dennis Hamm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday. Burial services will be conducted Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, at 11:00 am. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Tuesday and proceed to the cemetery.
