Nellie Catherine Handy

Nellie Catherine Handy, 94, formerly of 1020 John Exum Parkway, Johnson City, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Manley Hodge and Alice Narcissus Adams Cox. Nellie was a licensed practical nurse II, she had worked for many years at the Doctors Hospital in Washington DC and had live also in Astoria, Oregon. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Virginia Handy Durham, her former husband, James Everette Handy, a sister, Louise Barnette and five brothers, Stanley, Carl, Ralph Conway, Harold 'Kenneth'? and Keith Cox. Survivors include: a daughter, Jacque Handy Albright of Newport News, Virginia; a son James Edward 'Eddy'? Handy of Johnson City; a sister, Emily Ada Marsh of Hillsboro, Oregon; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roselawn Memory Gardens, under the direction of Rev. Hollace Ford. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home at which time we will leave in procession to the cemetery.
