Norbert A. Meert

Norbert A. Meert, 90, of 2734 E. Oakland Avenue A-1, Johnson City died Monday, March 17, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Meert was a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin and had lived in Johnson City for the past seventeen years. He was a son of the late Alphonse and Louise Tuyls Meert. Mr. Meert was a retired owner-operator of a heating and air conditioning business. He was an active member of the Johnson City Seventh Day Adventist Church. He served his country in the Army during WW II. Mr. Meert is preceded in death by: his first wife, Beulah Mae Meert who died in 1985; a grandson, Kristin J. Meert; and a sister, Lorraine Tursky. Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis Linnell Meert of the home; one daughter, Virginia C. Mattson of Salem, South Carolina; four sons, Arnold J. Meert of Citrus Heights, CA, Norbert K. Meert of Orlando, FL, Clifford B. Meert of Naples, FL, and William G. Meert of Yucaipa, CA; one brother, John Meert of Hendersonville, NC; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Norbert A. Meert will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Paull Dixon, officiating. Interment will be on Monday in the Naples Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Naples, Florida. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Saturday evening, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Meert requested that memorials be sent to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Springs, MD 20904 or adra.org
