Norma Jeanne Arwood, age 81, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Four Oaks Health Care Center. She was born in Sulphur Springs, Tennessee a daughter of the late Ray Kennerly and Kate Parker Kennerly. She was born with a God given talent and a beautiful voice. She spent her growing up years singing and went on to become a public school music teacher. She loved children and through that love and her singing she touched the hearts of many children. She was a former choir director of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. Mrs. Arwood was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Arwood and one daughter, Sandy Arwood. She is survived by one son, James Arwood; one daughter, Kathy Robinson; one step daughter, Cindy Ritter; one step son, Ray Arwood, Jr.; one sister, Katheryn Street; one granddaughter, Meredith Little; four great grandchildren, Jared Little, Arielle Little, Sarah Faith Fisher, and Abby Fisher; one niece, Mary Lou Hawk and husband Larry; one nephew, Pastor Parker Street and wife Robin; two great nieces, Taylor Street and Rachel Hicks; and one great nephew, Levi Hicks. A memorial service for Mrs. Norma Jeanne Arwood will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, September 9, 2010 in the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Parker Street officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Niswonger Childrens Hospital, 400 N. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37604. Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, 423-282-1521, is in charge of arrangements.
