Norris F. Reaves

Norris F. Reaves, 79, Johnson City, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Lake Bridge Healthcare Center. Mr. Reaves was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Fain and Martha Jane McCoy Reaves and was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Reaves was a retired produce manager and a former employee of Wrights and Whites Supermarkets. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Reaves leaves his wife, Mae Ann Taylor Reaves; children, Susan Reaves Golden and her husband, Michael. Murfreesboro, TN, Angela Reaves Nopo and her husband, Captain Joseph Nopo, San Antonio, TX, Jerry Hyder, Mountain City, TN and Bobbie Hyder Shirley and her husband, Mike, Johnson City; grandchildren, April Hyder, Misty Lipford, Bradley Hyder, Sarah and Rachel Shirley, Abigail and Daniel Nopo and Emily Golden; great granddaughter, Roma Lipford and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Reaves will be held at 7 PM Friday, November 7, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Reverend Ed Taylor will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Kinnick and Bud Tolley. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Johnson City, TN 37601, The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Atten: Development, 3417 Volta Place, NW, Washington, DC 20007, or the charity of your choice. The family expresses a special thanks to the staff of Lake Bridge Health Care and Dr. Frank Alan Forbush.
