I have finished the race. I have fought the good fight. I have kept the faith. Novada P. Wishon, 86, entered her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City. Novada was born in Washington County and had lived in the area all her life. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Jim Wishon, for 63 years. She was a wonderful, caring and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The thing that she enjoyed most in this life was spending time with all of her children. She loved working with her flowers and gardening. Novada was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church for 25 years. In addition to her husband, Novada was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lena Mae Crouch Curtis, one son, Fred Wishon, one daughter, Louise Ryhmer, and three brothers, Earl Curtis, Guy Curtis and Bill Curtis. Survivors include three sons, Joe Wishon and his wife, Pat, Hampton, Gene Wishon and his wife, Sharon, Jonesborough, and Mark Wishon, Johnson City; three daughters, Dorothy Dye and her husband, Glen, Johnson City, Sue Smith and her husband, John A., Johnson City and Debbie Miller and her husband, Sandy, Johnson City; one brother, J.D. Curtis and his wife, Frankie, Greeneville, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her special friends, S.T. and Marge Edwards. Novada spent the last four months of her life at the Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City. The family would like to send a very special thanks to all the wonderful caring staff members there who supported us and cared for our mother as if she were a part of their very own family. We would like to thank Shelia and Lou Ann from Amedysis Hospice for all their love and support and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty so our mothers final days would be comfortable and pain free. A funeral service for Novada Wishon will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Paul Crowe will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 Am and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers are Michael Saylor, Jonathan Saylor, Jamison Saylor, Brad Wishon, Hunter Wishon, Chris Townson, Jacob Leonard and Ed McKee. Honorary pallbearers are S.T. Edwards, Sandy Miller, John A. Smith and Glen E. Dye. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
