Nyleen Perdue

Nyleen Perdue, 75, of Gray passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Murfreesboro, Tn, to Houston and Dorothy McBride. Nyleen lived most of her life in the tri-cities. Nyleen graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. She attended Emory & Henry after high school and East Tennessee State University in her 40s and 50s. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed hunting. She has a Russian Boar mounted above the fireplace from one of her many hunting trips. She was Grand Cooking champion of the Appalachia Fair multiple years along with other cooking plaques hanging above her desk. Nyleen was a member of Boones Creek United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Nyleen was preceded in death by two brothers, Houston McBride Jr. and Butch McBride. Survivors include her daughter Laura Oakes and her husband Berkley, John 'Bo'? Perdue and his wife Debbie; And a brother David McBride; She had six grandchildren, Winston Oakes, Brooke Shelton and husband Chris, Jack Perdue, Hunter Perdue, Rachael Perdue and Nicole Perdue. A celebration of life memorial will be held at Boones Creek United Methodist Church at 1 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Pastor John Hitchew will be officiating.
