Mr. Oliver Clifton '?Butch'? Farr, Jr., 57, Johnson City, passed away Friday August 20, 2010 in Marion, Virginia. Mr. Farr was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of Mary Jane Farr and the late Oliver Clifton Farr, Sr. Mr. Farr was a graduate of Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University. He retired from East Tennessee State University in Computer Data Management. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher for twenty years. He was very active with the Boy Scouts. Survivors other than his mother include: one brother, Edward Farr and his wife Holly of Roaring Gap, North Carolina; two sisters, Olivia Farr of Raleigh, North Carolina and Mary Anne Ragain and her husband Parker of Knoxville; two nieces, Melissa Farr of Raleigh, North Carolina and Leah Farr of Roaring, North Carolina; one nephew, David Parker Ragain and his wife Christina of Austin, Texas; one great niece, Larissa Ragain of Austin, Texas. The funeral service for Mr. Oliver Clifton 'Butch'? Farr, Jr. will be conducted at 2 PM Monday, August 23, 2010 in the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Tim Bracken and Rev. Garland Thayer will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Monday prior to the service. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church Childrens Ministry, 900 Spring Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37604.
