Ollie Evelyn King

April 6, 1939 — December 7, 2017

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Ollie Evelyn Hartsook King left this world to join her husband of 59 years Billy L King Sr. on December 7, 2017. She never knew a stranger and was a loving wife and mother. Ollie enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was never one to complain and always found the good in everything; she considered her illness to be a blessing and tried to be encouraging to others. Ollie loved reading her Bible, praying daily and talking to everyone that she met about God, and how her disease was not a curse. While on this earth she helped her husband run his business while taking care of the family. She also enjoyed watching Billy race at the Sportsman Speedway and driving in the Powder Puff Derby. She was a second Mother to all her children?s friends and took them under her wing. She loved everyone she met and was loved by everyone that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Rowena Hyatt Hartsook; her husband, Billy L. King Sr.; four brothers, John 'JT', Robert, Tommy, and Frank Hartsook; five sisters, Mary Lou, Baby Ethel, Estelle Barnett, Pauline Greene, and Suzie Scarborough. Survivors include: her children, Kathy (Ronnie) Miller, Teresa (Melvin) Brummitt, Billy Jr. (Carolyn) King, Rebecca King, Sue (Gary) McMullins, and Joshua King; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Tina) Haney, Brandon (Tara) Haney, James Brummitt, Jason and David King, Amber (Alex) Rhem, Jessica (Will) Reed, Gary and Jaedi McMullins, Joshua, Brianna, and Isabella King; thirteen great grandchildren, Ryne, Seth, and Caleb Haney, Rheagan Haney, Kailee King, Lennox and Phoebe Rhem, Isaac, Isaiah, Evanna Brummitt, Kyrsten, Mikaela, and Elijah Reed. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Ibrahim Nakhoul, the staff and volunteers of Kingsport Oncology and Hematology for the wonderful care Ollie received. She always looked forward to her appointments there. She said they felt like family and she loved them all. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Greg Burton.
