Opie Warren Cunningham, 70, of Jonesborough, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Washington County, Virginia, son of the late Kahle Warren and Margie Wolfe Cunningham. Opie was a Lab and Environmental Supervisor for Colorworks Incorporated. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Opie was a Sergeant in the National Guard and had served from 1963 to 1978. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with his son. Among his hobbies gardening, landscaping and spending time with his Boxer dog 'Hope'?. Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Carolyn White Cunningham of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Opie Warren Cunningham, II and Tina Buck Cunningham of Jonesborough; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Wanda Cunningham Wade and Mary Jane and Joe Sexton all of Sevierville; several nieces and nephews; his special pet Boxer, Hope. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Jerry Cornett and Rev. Harold McNabb. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be: Denny Wolfe, Jeff Black, McKinnley Silvers, Jim Shull, Gary Mitchell and Johnny Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be: Tom Shull, Robert Morton, Bill Pomeroy, Calvin Goddard, Ed Hill, Joe Snyder, Bill Smith, Harold Allison, Doug Hatley, Robert Campbell, Bill and Tom Tugman and Jerry Gregg. Military honors will be accorded by the Boone Dam VFW and the Tennessee National Guard. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession by 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Johnson City '?
