Pansy W. Jones, 97, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her daughters residence. She was a Mitchell County, North Carolina native who had lived in Johnson City since 1955. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Dora Masters Whitson. Ms. Jones was a member of Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City, and attended Slagles United Methodist Church, Elizabethton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ted Jones, two sisters, Etta Mae Riddle and Grace Googe, and two brothers, Roe and Guy Whitson. Survivors include: son, Charles Delaney Jones, and his wife Sharon, of Johnson City; two daughters, Alice Dale Hulse, and her husband Dexter, of Jonesborough, and Janis Gale Verran, and her husband Leon, of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Ted Sparks, of Florida, Terry Sparks, Jr., Emmaline Hulse, Tamatha Jones, Tonya Larkey, Tim Jones, and Robyn Phillips, all of Johnson City; nine great grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. Funeral services for Pansy Jones will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Mack Houston will officiate. Mr. Michael Hawkins will be in charge of the music. Pallbearers will be Tim Jones, Kenny Larkey, Terry Sparks, Sr., Terry Sparks, Jr., Jeff Phillips, Johnny Taylor, Roger Whitson, and Keith Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe McClain and Taft Hill. Following the service, family and friends will proceed to Roselawn Memory Gardens for committal services. Rev. Sarah Wells will officiate those services. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, and at other times at the homes of Ms. Jones children. The family extends special thanks to the healthcare providers and church family that assisted with Ms. Jones care. It was deeply appreciated.
