Patricia Linton Stone

June 11, 1950 — January 25, 2015

Patricia Linton Stone, 64, of Johnson City, passed away after a six and a half year battle with breast cancer Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras; a daughter of the late Samuel R. Linton of Greenville, GA and Marietta Guilbert Linton of Tegucigalpa. She founded the Voice for Pets animal rescue and Greenville Schools Early Learning Program, taught in the American School in Honduras, taught preschool for special needs children in the Newport, TN schools, taught Español at Walters State Community College, taught Braille in the Greene County Schools, worked for the U. S. Department of State, captained the Sure Shots of the Mountain Empire Tennis Association, played in numerous tennis competitions, ran in 10ks and triathlons throughout East Tennessee, was an avid swimmer, scuba diver, cyclist, photographer, and lover of life. She was a model of determination and left us far too early, but we were truly privileged to have her during her time on earth. We are so very sad and will miss her more than words can say. Survivors include: her husband, ETSU professor Dr. John E. Stone; two sons, John Duncan Stone and wife Jennifer, of Tempe, AZ, and Edward Decker Stone and his wife Rebecca, of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Decker Paige Stone; four loving sisters, Eva Bernstein and husband Ron, of Miami, FL, Jackie Hansen and husband Peter, of Santa Cruz, CA, Kay Linton and husband Mac, of Burbank, CA, and Belinda Linton, of Honduras; three nieces, Lauren Bernstein, of New York, NY, Talia Bernstein, of Los Angles, CA, Camila Yuma, of Santa Ynez, CA; nephews, Jack, Roby, and Aldofo Midence; and cousin Rafael Guilbert and wife Gail, of Florida, and other cousins. The family of Patricia Linton Stone will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm Friday, January 30, 2015 in the Morris-Baker Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm Friday under the direction of Rev. Michael Adams. Pats legacy is her Voice for Pets Animal Rescue (www.voiceforpets.com).
