Patrick David Outlaw, born August 26, 1937 in Asheville, North Carolina to Benjamin Clayton and Cora Perkins Outlaw, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by both parents, sister Betty Ann Outlaw Boring, and a granddaughter Shawna Elise Outlaw. Surviving family members are his devoted wife Helen Harvey Outlaw, sons David Greg Outlaw and Timothy Scott Outlaw, stepson Robert Charles Osborne, grandsons Chad Outlaw and Travis Outlaw, brother-in-law Robert Rigby Harvey and wife Janet, and numerous McLaughlin relatives of St. Louis, MO. Pat, a lover of nature and mankind, delighted in helping others. He lived life fully enjoying hobbies such as cars, airplanes, boats, RVs, scooters, motorcycles, traveling, and gardening. Pat was Co-Owner in East Tennessee Tile and Marble Company. A successful businessman all his life, he earlier owned a lawnmower shop and a CB radio shop. He belonged to the American General Contractors Association and was an active volunteer in county issues. The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Johnson City Medical Center, McCloud Blood and Cancer (Johnson City) M.D. Anderson (Houston, Texas) and Mercy Medical Airlift for their assistance in his time of need. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Mercy Medical Airlift, (4620 Haygood Road, Suite 1, Virginia Beach, VA 23455), Lymphoma Leukemia Society ( 404 BNA Drive, Suite 102, Nshville,TN 37217 ) or Second Harvest Food Bank (127 Dillon Court, Gray,TN 37615 ). The graveside service for Patrick David Outlaw will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday May 26, 2009 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Rev. Tommy G. Maines will officiate. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Monday.
