Paul L. (Lee) Plemmons II, 63, of Erwin went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lee Plemmons and Doris Dean Sluder Plemmons (Mrs. Bill G.) Barber. Lee?s life was a colorful and adventurous journey through many different careers, including drummer, forester, industrial manager, phlebotomist, registered nurse and nurse practitioner. At the time of his death, he worked in the Day Clinic at the Johnson City Community Health Center. He had a passion and gift for working with the homeless population in Johnson City, and he was beloved by his patients and coworkers. Until his dying day, Lee found joy in his wife and children, his friends, the beautiful waters of Watauga Lake, rock and roll music, and worshiping his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service of praise and thanksgiving is scheduled on Monday, July 2 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, with Rev. Darwin Caldwell presiding. Family and friends are invited to gather in the atrium of the church beginning at 5 p.m. An interment service is scheduled on Tuesday, July 3 at noon at Newfound Baptist Church in Leicester, N.C.
