Pauline Hughes Ledford, age 87, 400 N. Boone Street, Asbury Place, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014. Ms. Ledford was born November 26,1926, in Mitchell County, North Carolina, and was a daughter of the late Charlie E. and Margaret Deyton Hughes. She was of the Baptist faith. Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, who selflessly and completely gave of herself to her family throughout her life. She loved to laugh and bring laughter to others. The time spent with her family was the absolute joy of her life. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and reading her Bible. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Other than her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Ledford Park, her great-grandson, Elijsha Martin; six brothers: Francis, George, Jeff, Leonard, Wade and Walter Hughes; four sisters: Edna Cooper, Pansy Edwards, Bessie Rae, and Maxine Hughes Rogers; special heart son, Robert F. Ledford, Jr. and former spouse and father of her children, Robert F. Ledford, Sr. Survivors include two daughters: Priscilla Bennett, and Hilda Moody, both of Johnson City; one grandson, Jimmy L. Bennett II, Gray; four granddaughters: Keisha L. Martin, Jeremia Haun, Brianna Moody, and Dakota Noel Ramsey all of Johnson City; three great-grandchildren: Seth Haun, Isaiah Martin, Jude Marshall; one great-great grandchild, Elijsha McAllister; one sister, Irene Hughes Bolton, Sarasota, FL; sister-in-law, Kathleen Hughes, Knoxville; four special heart daughters: Robin Bohin, Bobbie Ledford, Martha Harris, and Kristie Ervin. Numerous loving nieces and nephews survive as well as a host of extended family and friends. The family of Pauline Hughes Ledford will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Morris-Baker. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Dr. Daniel Winiger will officiate. Ms. Ledford will be taken to Huntdale Cemetery, Mitchell County, North Carolina for inurnment. Those wishing to be present may plan to attend at noon Thursday, February 20, 2014. Paulines family and friends would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Asbury Place at Johnson City who compassionately cared for Pauline as though she was part of their own family.
