Pauline (Polly) Edwards Barr passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at her daughters home in Midlothian, VA. Polly was born May 11, 1931 in Cane River, NC. She lived a few childhood years in Pennsylvania. She was a high school graduate. As a woman in her 50s she decided to pursue a college degree, excelling in all classes. She retired from Baxter Pharmaseal. Polly was a talented seamstress, tailor and hat maker with a love for books and antiques. She was also a gifted painter having studied under local artists. Her love of animals has been passed from generation to generation. She was most fond of elephants. She had a passion for politics and was happy to debate anyone, anytime. She was Presbyterian. In addition to her parents, Etta Johnson Edwards and John Edwards, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Bill Jack Barr, brothers Eugene Edwards, Simon Grant Edwards and Jay Brian Edwards. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Barr McDavid, Midlothian, Virginia, granddaughter Christie McDavid, Charlotte, North Carolina, grandson Matt McDavid and wife Amy McDavid, great grandson Hudson Jack McDavid and great granddaughter Lillian Kay McDavid Richmond, Virginia, sister Irene Norris, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and brother Wilson Edwards, Elkton Maryland. The family of Pauline Barr will receive friends from 4 PM until 6 PM Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Morris-Baker. A committal service will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Pastor Todd Kuykendall officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Please meet at the cemetery by 2:20 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060 or the Washington County Animal Shelter, 3411 North Roan Street, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601.
