Pauline Greene

Mrs. Pauline McCurry Carder Greene, 97, affectionately known to many as 'Aunt Polly'?, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Christian Care Center in Johnson City where she had been a resident for the past three and a half years. Prior to that, Mrs. Greene lived at 119 First Scott Drive in Johnson City. A native of Washington County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Earnest and Parolee Pritchard McCurry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John C. Carder in 1973, her second husband, Robert M. Greene in 2003 and five siblings: S.C. (Mack) McCurry, Rex McCurry, Lester McCurry, Letha McCurry Barnes and Luella McCurry Rowe. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth McCurry of Morristown, Tennessee and niece, Polly Price of Johnson City, her primary caregiver for several years, as well as many other loving nieces and nephews whose lives she touched in innumerable ways. Also surviving are the children and grandchildren of Robert Greene: 'Skip' Greene and wife Patty; Patti Lewis and husband Steve; Whitney Greene, Bobby and Nathan; Allen Lewis and Chandler. Mrs. Greene was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Margaret McNeese Sunday School class. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Christian Care Center for their dedicated love and care of Mrs. Greene as well as Caris HealthCare for their supportive help and caring comfort in her last days. She was also blessed by the ministry of special visitors Rachel Stokes, Liz Sowder and Amy Otto. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Murray and Rev. R. Willard Warfield officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mike Price, Dustin Price, Chip Gilbert, Bill West, Tom Wilkinson and Jeff Day. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the time of the service in the Welcome Corridor of the church. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Central Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry, 300 North Roan Street, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601 or Gideons International, Johnson City South Camp, P.O. Box 372, Mountain Home, TN, 37684.
