Pauline Pierce, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the residence of her daughter in Johnson City.She was a native of Johnson City and a daughter of the late Charles William and Nina Florence Miller Berry. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Nick Robinson ' Rob'? Pierce in 1984. She was also preceded by an infant son, Nick R. Pierce, Jr. and by two sisters, Mary Frances Deardorff and Margaret Pierson Lay and by two brothers, Wayne Berry and Vernon Berry. Mrs. Pierce retired from Kennametal and was an avid bowler and traveled to many states to compete and bowl. She was a member of the University Parkway Baptist Church and the Fidelas Sunday School Class.Survivors include; three daughters and sons in law, Carol and Leslie Thornburg, Ann and Jim Wilson all of Johnson City and Janis and Walt Smith of Jonesborough; six grandchildren, Jimmy Wilson of Atlanta, GA, Chris Wilson and his wife Kim of Kingsport, Sgt. Shane Smith and his wife Christy of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, Jeremy Smith of Jonesborough, Rachel Hurley and her husband Chris of Johnson City and Bryan Thornburg of Johnson City; six great grandchildren, Josh Kelly, Lauren Kelly, Makenzie Turner, Aaron Thornburg, Corbin Hurley and Gavin Hurley; three sisters, Zola Bailey, Marilyn Staten Thornburg and Lucille Cooper all of Johnson City; a friend, Francis ' Buddy'? Moore of Johnson City; numerous nieces and nephews, a host of friends.The family would like to especially thank Mrs. Pierces sister, Zola for the friendship and excellent care she gave during her illness also Sandy Milam and the excellent physical and spiritual care given by Caris Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from the Morris Baker South Chapel. Rev. Bill Greer and Mrs. Agnes Senter will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at 8:00 p.m. Entombment will be held in Monte Vista Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Pallbearers will be the following nephews: Jerry Pierce, Ron Pierce, Dallas Pierce, Gurney Pierce, Dean Pierce and Paul May. Honorary pallbearers will be: Grandsons, Fidelas Sunday School Class of University Parkway Baptist Church, George Lowe, Chris Hurley, Lee Long, Cliff Osborne, Chris Turner and Lawrence Pierce.
