MRS. PEGGY C. GREGORY Certified Dental AssistantMrs. Peggy C. Gregory passed away in Augusta, GA on Friday evening, September 16,2011. Mrs. Gregory was born October 26th, 1924 in Erwin, TN to the late Maude Crowe. She was the much-beloved granddaughter of the late Louise and Joe McInturff. Mrs. Gregory lived in Johnson City, Tennessee for 43 years before moving to Augusta, Georgia in 2002. Peggy Gregory was preceded in death by her first husband (21 years), Mr. Clifford Miller, and by her second husband (11 years), Mr. D L Garland. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Drew Crowe and Ernest Crowe, and a sister, Ruth Crowe Simpson. Mrs. Gregory was a Certified Dental Assistant for 24 years at the James H. Quillan V.A. Medical Center in Johnson City, TN; worked for the late Dr. A.A. Dobbs in Erwin for 14 years; and also served as a receptionist for the late Dr. John Hickey in Sevierville, TN. She was president of the local chapter of the American Business Womens Association in Johnson City, TN; was president of the First District Dental Assistant Society, where she was selected 'Dental Assistant of the Year'?; served as Vice-President, President-Elect, and President of the Tennessee Dental Assistant Association from 1970 though 1974. Peggy Gregory also was a member of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees) Chapter # 324 in Johnson City, TN, where she served as Treasurer for ten years, and as Membership Chairman for eight years. In addition, Mrs. Gregory was the Financial Secretary for the Tennessee Federation of NARFE for six years. She also served on several NARFE committees in Tennessee until moving her membership to Chapter # 101 in Augusta in 2002. Peggy Gregory grew up as a member of Grace United Methodist in Erwin, TN, and was Treasurer there until she moved to Georgia. Mrs. Peggy C. Gregory leaves behind to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: her husband, Terry; her son, Larry Miller (Donna); her daughter, Mary Lou Miller; her granddaughter, Kelli Miller Pierson (Trip); her great grandsons Drew Pierson and Jamie Pierson, all of Augusta; grandson Jerry Morgan (Kentucky); niece Mary Ann Carick (R.T.), of Winter Park, FL; and nephew Richard Crowe (Carol), of Royal Oak, Michigan. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev Billy Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 until 10:00 am on Tuesday. # # #
