Peter 'Pete' Miller, 80, of 502 E. 10th Avenue, Johnson City died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, NC. Pete was a native of Hawkins County, son of the late Samuel Powel and Sydney Hisey Miller. He was a sales clerk for the Hasson-Bryan Hardware Store of Morristown for many years and was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Miller attended the Central Baptist Church and was a member of the 'Old Fossils' Breakfast Club in Johnson City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine M. Westmorland and Harriet M. Haynes; four brothers, DeWolfe, Samuel, Oliver and Frank Miller. Survivors include: his wife Bernice Jackson Miller of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Jane M. and Eric Mustain and Annis M. and Stephen Evans all of Johnson City; a brother, James H. and his wife, Charlotte Miller of Surgoinsville; a sister, Annis M. Hale of Russellville; two granddaughters, Margaret M. and Katherine M. Roach; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at the Central Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Ronald Murray and Rev. Willard Warfield. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at three. Visitation at other times at Morris - Baker after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in the Mt. Home National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Kingsport VFW #3382. Honorary pallbearers will be the 'Old Fossils' Breakfast Club, Ed Martin, Wilbur Henderson, Grover Taylor and Ron Dawson. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the: Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37601 or the Heritage Baptist Church Building Fund, 1512 John Exum Parkway, Johnson City, TN 37604.
