Phyllis A. Cooper

Phyllis Anne Cooper, 76, Erwin, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Wythe County, Virginia, but lived most of her life in Erwin, Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Snavely and Lillian Arneta Quesenberry Snavely. Ms. Cooper was a former employee of Harris-Tarkett who retired after over twenty-five years of service to the company. She was a strong independent Christian woman who, when unable to attend church, enjoyed reading her bible and studying Gods word. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her daughter, Wanda Gayle Casey; two sisters, Daisy Lane and Agnes Scott; and a brother, Talley Snavely. Survivors include: two sons, John Cooper, and his partner Debbie Reed, of Unicoi, and Tim Tester, and his wife Lucille, of Boones Creek; great-granddaughter, Arneta Casey, of Elizabethton; friend to the end, Jean Kimery, of Erwin; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Phyllis Cooper will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2013 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Pastor Todd McLaughlin officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mike Cooper, Chris Cooper, Eddie Davis, Eddie Brewer, John Cooper Sr., and Buddy Lane. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for those services.
