Phyllis Ann Davis, 83 of Johnson City, TN passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2020 at the Modern Caregivers Facility in Piney Flats, TN.
Phyllis was born on March 06, 1937 in Ashland, Kentucky to George M. and Mary Olive McAllister.
She graduated from Ashland High School in 1955. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. where she ended up meeting her husband of over 62 years, and love of her life, before locating to Johnson City, TN and raising a family.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she had served on various boards, sang in the Chancel Choir as well as working with various groups within the church. She also belonged to numerous clubs and organizations throughout Johnson City. Phyllis was an avid tennis player.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sisters, Sara Agostine and Jean Dowdy; a brother, Robert McAllister; and grandson, Matthew Cannon.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry W. Davis; children, Becky Reece (Fred), Robert W. (Joni), and Richard A. (Mary Ann), all of Johnson City; One grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you is in order to all the staff of Modern Caregivers of Piney Flats, especially Sheila Sigmon. They were a special group of people that ensured our mother was well taken care in her last days. There was a never a need that was not met or detail that was left out in caring for her.
She also leaves behind a very special and longtime friend, Mary Charles “Charlie” Wilson. Charlie and Phyllis had a friendship that spanned over sixty years. They both loved and cared for each other as well as each others’ families.
Thanks must also be made to Rev. Tim Tapp for always checking in on our mom and going out of his way to pay a visit and brighten her day.
A ceremony will be held at Central Baptist at a later date, details to be published as they are set.
