R. Keith Hardy

July 11, 1927 — June 30, 2016

Russell Keith Hardy, age 88, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with his Lord on June 30, 2016 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City. Keith was born in Quincy, IL, son of Dave and Dora Hardy. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dean Hardy and Kenny Hardy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Beverly L. Hardy; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Hardy-Parcell and John Parcell; son and daughter-in-law Craig Hardy and Donna Hardy; grandson Marshall Hardy and granddaughter Meredith Hardy. Keith and Beverly are members of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton; TN. Keith was proud to be a life insurance agent and ran a successful agency in Aurora, IL for over forty years. Keith loved to sing! He had a beautiful Irish tenor voice and shared his talent generously with many choirs and vocal groups, as well as a soloist for many weddings (the first at age 8), funerals, nursing homes, and church worship services. Keith was a man of God, and took his Christian faith seriously. He was a people person and connected quickly and caringly to all that he met. As a result he often became a confidant to those in need at times of crisis. His personality was reflected by his favorite choice of dog, the Boxer, which is an enthusiastic and affectionate breed. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday July 5, 2016, at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton at 7 pm, preceded by visitation with the family from 6 pm to 7 pm. A private burial service will be held the following day, Wednesday, at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:45pm. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 will accord military honors. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 1:30 pm Wednesday. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Memorial Presbyterian of Elizabethton in Keith?s honor.
