Rachel Eleanor Hopson, 78, of Johnson City, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Johnson City surrounded by her family. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Dillow and Mary Alice Hay Sanders. Rachel was a retired seamstress. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years in 2013, Charles Hopson; a brother, Paul Sanders and three sisters, Becky Ephraim, Nancy Sanders and Martha O?Dell; a grandson, Joshua Clawson. Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Charles ?Chipper' and Amy Hopson of Jonesborough; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie Miller of Johnson City, Kim and Kevin Vines of Jonesborough and Lisa and Sam Clawson of Johnson City; a sister, Sarah and Ralph Isenberg of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Lauren and Justin Hazlewood, Dr. Adriene Miller, Katie Vines and Caleb and Allison Clawson; a great granddaughter, Amylia Hazlewood; several nieces and nephews. The Hopson family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm in the Dogwood Chapel of the Morris-Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Minister Bo Deaton. A committal service is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Washington County Memory Gardens with a procession leaving from the funeral home at 10:30 am. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
