Ralph E. Hamly 87, of Johnson City, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Christian Care Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, son of the late Ralph E. Hamly, Sr. and Oma Clawson Hamly. Ralph was Deputy Fire Chief for Johnson City Fire Department, having retired after 35 years service. Ralph was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge #486 F&AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Daisy Tipton Hamly; a sister, Henrietta Clark; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Rosa Hamly. Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Bales Keys Hamly of Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca 'Becky Hamly'? and Steven Clayman of Kingsport; a stepson, Kermit Wayne Church of Honolulu, HI; a brother, Earl Hamly of Kingsport; a grandson Jason M. and wife Brittani Clayman of Abingdon, VA;three step granddaughters, Shannon Church Allena of VA, Anita Church Bowes of Lebanon and Judy Knowles of Norene; two great grandchildren, Abigail Grace and Wyatt Clarke Clayman of Abingdon, VA; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, December 19, 2011 in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Lon Tobin and Mr. Phillip McLain. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at seven. Masonic rites will be during the service. The Johnson City Fire Department Honor Guard will assist and serve as active pallbearers. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monte Vista Burial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be: Phillip McLain, Mike Hamly, David Wright, Bill Booker, Bill Bailey and Glen Arnold. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: the Holston Home for Children, 404 Holston Drive, Greeneville, TN 37743 or the Alzheimers Association, 207 N. Boone St., Johnson City, TN 37604.
