Ray Hyatt, 76, of Piney Flats, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 2, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was a native of Sullivan County. He was a son of the late Lawrence and Grace Hyatt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Alvin Hyatt, and one sister, Margaret Tester. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Georgia Tester Hyatt, of the home; five children, Jimmy Hyatt and David Hyatt, both of the home, Jeff Hyatt and his wife Holly, of Bluff City, Debra Nelson and her husband Gary, of Jonesborough, and Michael Hyatt and his wife Tonya, of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Nikki, Mitchell, RJ, Dylan, Cameron, and Taylor; one great grandchild, Michael James; two brothers, John Hyatt and Jack Hyatt and his wife Ida; three sisters, Peggy Tester and her husband Ted, Sally Tester and her husband Jim, and Sara Lou Gilbert and her husband Jim; and special friends, Robert ?Bob' Collins, J. D. Feathers, and Osler Feathers. The family of Ray Hyatt will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8 pm Tuesday in the chapel under the direction of Pastor Ed Davis. A committal service is scheduled for 1 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 12:30 pm Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services.
