Raymond Eugene Cretsinger

Raymond Eugene 'Gene'? Cretsinger, 69, of 3637 West Walnut Street, Jonesborough, died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Washington County, son of the late Raymond Eli and Lilly Mae Ayers Cretsinger. Gene was a truck driver in the rock quarry business. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Edith Mae Cretsinger and a brother and sister. Survivors include: his wife, Lydia Blankenship Cretsinger of the home; two sons, David Day of Jonesborough and Steve Day and his wife, Michelle; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gina 'George'? and Tony Dale of Morristown, Dawn and James McCray of Gray, Juli Keim of North Carolina and Rose and Denno Holder of Johnson City; a brother and sister-in-law, Garnett 'Poncho'? and Debbie Cretsinger of Johnson City; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Junior Branam of Johnson City; eleven very special grandchildren, Morgan 'Little George'?, Nichole 'Tootle Britches'?, Baliegh, Dusty, Amy, Cory, Dylan, Drew, Caleb, Daniel and Eric; four great grandchildren. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. William Taylor and Rev. Chuck Griffin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession by 9:45 a.m. Active pallbearers will be: Ryan Garst, Brian Rector, Cory King, Jay Blankenship, Mickey Onks, Jamie McCray and Mark Mckee. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the DAV, National Service Foundation, P.O.Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 404 BNA Drive, Nashville, TN 37217.
