Reba Walker Billings

August 10, 1926 — June 29, 2009

Mrs. Reba Walker Billings, 82, 2205 Wyndale Road, Johnson City died Monday, June 29, 2009 in the Lakebridge Health Care Center. Mrs. Billings was a native of Greene County, TN and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Orville Dewey and Leona Clara Mitchell Walker. Mrs. Billings was a 1945 graduate of Science Hill High School, and a 1949 graduate of East Tennessee State University. She taught for thirty-six years at Henry Johnson Elementary School and worked as an elementary school substitute teacher for an additional nine years. She attended the First Presbyterian Church for over fifty years. Mrs. Billings was a member of the Washington County Retired Teachers Association and the State of Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the East Tennessee State University National Alumni Association and the Golden 50s Club. Mrs. Billings will be remembered and cherished as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include: her husband of fifty-seven years, Truman Billings of the home; one son, Leslie and wife Kathy Billings of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Billings and Justin Aaron Billings, both of Johnson City; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jack and Tiny Pennell; nieces and nephew, Kaye Pennell Watts, Paula and Jerry Eller, and Marty and Wanda Pennell; several cousins also survive. The graveside service for Mrs. Billings will be conducted at 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. The Chaplain at Lakebridge, Mr. Dwight MacPherson will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday prior to the service.
