Rebecca Rost Atlasy, 40 passed away, Tuesday, August 19, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. A Carter County native, she had lived in Johnson City since 1974. Ms. Atlasy was a daughter of Gerald Authur Rost, Sr., Elizabethton and Margaret Rebecca Jenkins, Johnson City. She was a full time student at ETSU before she became disabled in 2002. Ms. Atlasy was preceded in death by her step-father, Dana A. McKinney, her step-mother, Pat Rost, paternal grandparents, Carl and Daisy Tolley and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Eldora Rost. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include one son, Aaron Atlasy, Johnson City; former husband, Al Atlasy, Johnson City; one sister and brother-in-law, Malina and Andy Willis, Blountville; one brother, Gerald Rost, Jr., Johnson City and two nephews, Justin and Jesse Willis, Blountville, two aunts, Juanita Clark, Johnson City and Shirley Tolley, Elizabethton; two uncles, Carl Tolley, Jr., Hampton and Richard Tolley, Nashville and several cousins. A funeral service for Ms. Atlasy will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, August 21, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Pastor Gordan Hughes and Pastor William Lawson, Sr. will officiate. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 22, 2008 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Woodby, Justin Willis, Roman Holtsclaw, Dana Willis, Jimmy Willis and Robert Willis. Jesse Willis will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 PM until service time. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Cancer Center, P.O. Box 318, Memphis, TN 38101.
