Mr. Richard 'Dick'? E. Conner, age 85, of Gray, passed away, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the NHC HealthCare. Mr. Conner was a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of the late Harry M. Conner and Helen Wright Conner. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Earnest Conner; two sisters, Beth Anderson and Marilyn Mintzer. Mr. Conner served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. He was assigned to the LSM 101 Ship. He worked for Snap-On Tools for fifteen years. Mr. Conner was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Mary C. Conner of the home; one brother, Harry Conner and his wife Anne; one sister-in-law, Sharon Conner all of the Chicago area. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Richard 'Dick'? E. Conner will be conducted at 12:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the St. Marys Catholic Church. Father Peter Iorio will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military rights. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the St. Marys Catholic Church Building Fund, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, Tn. 37601 or St. Vincent de Paul. The Conner family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at NHC HealthCare for the wonderful care they provided to Mr. Conner.
