Richard Eugene Stephens

Richard Eugene “Gene” Stephens, died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Whiteville, NC, son of the late William Paul and Bernice Hardie Stephens.
Gene was a retired salesperson in the lumber industry.
He attended First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City.
Gene was a graduate of University of North Carolina.
Survivors include: his wife, Janie Ploucha of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, J. P. and Wendy Stephens and their daughter, Juliette; two stepsons, Scot Ploucha and his wife, Amber; Bret Ploucha; three brothers, Bill Stephens, Andy Stephens and Tim Stephens and his wife, Brenda; two nephews, Jeffery and Daniel Stephens; two nieces, Sandy and Maria Stephens.
Gene’s family and close friends celebrated his life on Saturday, September 7, 2019.
