Richard 'Harold'? Everhart, 84, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Appalachian Christian Village following an extended illness. He was a native of Asheville, NC, son of the late James Marvin and Russie Linville Everhart. Harold was a veteran of the Korean War and the Occupation Forces in Germany during WWII, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a longtime member and treasurer for over twenty years for Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Johnson City. He was a retired Office Manager for the Rainbo Bakery. Harold belonged to Johnson City Grand Squares, Eastman Squares and Round Dance, and served as treasurer for Roundaliers Round Dance Club and MESRDA. Some other hobbies included; gardening, hiking, snorkeling and travelling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years Mary Gillespie Everhart. Survivors include: his God Daughter, Sierra Brown Street and her husband, Adam of Johnson City; a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and June Everhart of Asheville, NC; special family friends: Billy and Valerie Brown of Johnson City, Martha Wallace of Kingsport; a sister-in-law, Martha Gillespie of Hendersonville; a niece and nephew. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church at 7:00 pm, under the direction of Pastor Jim Nipper. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until time of service at 7:00 pm. A private committal will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs of the Appalachian Christian Village and The Regional Cancer Center at Johnson City for their care.
