Richard Hollis Calvert

Richard ?Dick' H. Calvert, 75, Johnson City, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at his residence. Dick was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Edward Hollis and Viola Maxine Klock Calvert. Dick was a member of Knights of Columbus and participated in the fish dinners on Friday nights. He was also a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, where he was part of the Parish Council for seven years. Dick was an Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Era. Dick transferred from Texas to Johnson City in 1988, when he accepted a job as a CT tech at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, Carla Kennedy and their St. Mary?s Church family for their care and support. Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Petra Contreras Calvert; one daughter, Christina Goodman; four grandchildren, Jonathan, David, Maria and Martinian; special friends, who were there from the beginning, John and Pat Barraclough and Jonathan Blankenship; and Mr. T. Funeral Mass for Dick Calvert will begin at 12:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Family and friends are asked to meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery for a 1:45 PM committal service on Friday. Pallbearers will be members of Knights of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Love & Care Mission, Inc., www.loveandcaremission.org.
