Rick Sams (1960-2023)

Rick Sams, beloved son, father, and brother, passed away on June 20, 2023, leaving an impression of love and cherished memories. He was 62 years old.

Born in Johnson City, December 18th, 1960 Rick was the loving and devoted son of Kenneth and Sylvia Sams.

Preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, Rick is survived by his loving mother Sylvia, and daughters Macey and Kylie, and his brother Terry. His children were his pride and joy, and their accomplishments brought him immense happiness and fulfillment. Rick also shared a great bond with his brother, Terry who was Rick’s rock throughout his life journey. Rick took comfort in knowing his big brother was always there for him.

Rick was a Christian and attended Downtown Christian Church with his family for many years.

Beyond his family, Rick was a loyal friend who touched the lives of many. He possessed a genuine spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Rick worked most of his adult life at Mountain Empire Oil Company until his retirement. Even after retirement he liked staying busy and doing things with his hands.

In his free time, Rick enjoyed exploring the great outdoors, with a particular passion for camping. Nature provided him solace and a sense of tranquility that he cherished deeply.

Rick's departure has left a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A memorial service to celebrate Rick's life will be held on June 24, 2023, at 1 pm with visitation from 11 am - 1 pm, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, an organization that Rick believed could help change others' lives.

May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and friends find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with him.
