Rita Lynn Byrd

Rita Lynn Byrd, 69, of Johnson City died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at her residence following an illness. She was a native of Johnson City and a daughter of the late John and Kate Baker Tucker.

Rita was a longtime CNA for the Asbury Place in Johnson City.

She was a member of the East Johnson City Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three sisters, Sue Collins, Frances Avery, and Glenna Roberts, and a brother, Avery Tucker.

Left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Daryil Byrd; her son, Jeffrey Wayne Hammonds; two daughters, Simple Hammonds and Katherine Benjamin; a brother, Zane Tucker; a sister, Wilma Tucker; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

A graveside service for Rita Byrd will be conducted for family on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Jonesborough under the direction of Rev. Patty Muse.
