Robert Dayton Lambert

January 29, 1923 — October 18, 2013

Robert D. Lambert, Sr. age 90, of Gray, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at the VA Medical Center with his family at his bedside. He had lived in the Gray community for over 55 years, where for many years, he coached in the Gray Little League and worked with the Gray Ruritan Club. Additionally, Robert was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran serving three years with the Hq Battery 951st Field Artillery in General Pattons tank brigade. He served in Northern France, Central Europe, Africa, and stormed the beaches of Normandy as a loader on a tank. His wife of 59 years, Irene Lambert, and parents William and Molly Lambert and one brother Leonard Lambert preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Bobby Lambert and wife Juanell of Gray, daughters Susan Fox and husband Mike of Gray, Deborah Stoops and husband Bob of Limestone, Melissa Price and husband David of Johnson City and Sharon King and husband Louie of Columbia, SC. Also two sisters, Muriel Turner of Woodway, VA and Peggy Parks of Greenwood, SC, survive him, also 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Melissa Price, 764 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City, TN. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, October 21, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Pastor Jodie Jenkins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of service at 7:00 pm. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11:30 am in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be: Louie King, Mike Fox, Bobby Lambert, Bob Stoops, Jimmy Rivers and Randy Woodward.
